Recently we reported on rumors of Sony and Rockstar negotiating some sort of exclusivity with an already existing franchise. Well, today we were able to uncover exactly what franchise was being hinted at. We originally received a hint that some franchise that already exists was the focus of the deal, saying that only PlayStation platforms would be the ones to get all of the games from the series. We originally thought that a series was coming exclusively to PS3, but it looks like we had it wrong. Today we came to find a hint that mentioned "Sega Leak", or the infamous Sega memo that leaked out recently talking about PS2 games being ported for download on PSN, as well as generating more interest from PS3 owners in PSP via PSP/PS3 interoperability. This led us to believe that the exclusivity talks are for porting all of the PS2 Grand Theft Auto games over to PS3, possibly receiving the same updated visuals as God of War Collection. If so, this would make PS3 the only system that can play ALL Grand Theft Auto games. Well, you might still need the PSP for Chinatown Wars since there is not a PS2 version planned... ![]() Coming soon to PS3? PSP/PS3 connectivity was also heavily stressed in the rumor. Exactly what this means is unknown. Could GTA5 allow you to take your PS3 game on the road, via remote play or side missions that effect your game on the PS3? Will this be the case with previous versions? Will we be able to play all of the older GTA PSN games on our PSP's also with remote play? There are a number of possibilities. We're not sure which it is, but we know it has something to do with PSP to PS3 connectivity. No timeframe was given for when to expect this to be announced, but we were told not to expect to hear about it until next year. Stick with PSInsider as we bring you the latest on these rumors. |
